Pork Mince Lettuce Cups

If you’re looking for an easy midweek meal with an unbeatable taste-to-effort ratio, this recipe for pork mince lettuce cups is going to blow your mind!

Traditionally referred to as San Choy Bow, pork mince lettuce cups are an Australian adaption of a Chinese recipe, which utilised pigeon meat instead of pork mince.

In this recipe, we will be using fresh, crispy lettuce cups to wrap our sweet, sticky, flavour-packed pork mince filling.

Best of all, you'll have a delicious, healthy feast all ready to eat in just 15 minutes.

Preperation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 500 grams of premium pork mince from ACA
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • 100ml of oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of soy
  • 2 tablespoons of Chinese cooking wine
  • 100 grams of canned water chestnuts 
  • 1 brown onion
  • 2 spring onions
  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce 
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger

Cooking Method

  1. Heat sesame oil in a hot pan or wok. Add spring and brown onion, garlic and ginger to the pan and saute until fragrant. 
  2. Add pork mince, oyster sauce, soy sauce, cooking wine, water chestnuts and sesame seeds to the pan. Cook until sauce forms a thick gravy-like texture (approximately 5 minutes).
  3. Peel iceberg lettuce to create lettuce cups and fill them with the pork mince mixture.
  4. Top with fresh coriander (or preferred herb), and serve.
